Optical Probes

The Thickness Gauge systems from Bristol Instruments use an optical probe to direct light to, and collect reflections from, the material under test. Different types of probes are available to support a variety of thickness measurement applications.

QAP Quick-Align Camera Probe

00726-3-01

For R&D, quality control, and pre-production applications

Proper alignment of the optical probe is critical but may be challenging for some applications. Therefore, Bristol Instruments provides an optical probe that includes a built-in visual aid that simplifies the alignment process.

The Quick-Align Camera Probe uses an integrated camera to locate the optical signal reflected from the material under test. The system’s software displays the camera image to show the relative positions of the reflected signal and the target for optimum alignment. With this visual feedback, it is easy to make the appropriate adjustments to perfectly align the optical probe.

P Optical Probe

For integration into custom fixtures used in production applications

This optical probe is the same as the Quick-Align Camera Probe, but without the integrated camera. Alignment is achieved and optimized using the optical reflection signal that is displayed by the system’s software.

LP Optical Probe

For applications with space limitations

This optical probe has a smaller diameter (< 0.75”) for use in tight spaces. It also allows multiple probes to be placed very close to each other. Alignment is achieved and optimized using the optical reflection signal that is displayed by the system’s software.
