Wavelength Meters - WDM
Bristol Instruments provides a family of optical wavelength meters and multi-wavelength meters designed specifically for the testing of WDM lasers and WDM systems. Absolute laser wavelength is measured to an accuracy as high as ± 0.3 pm. This performance is guaranteed by continuous calibration with a built-in wavelength standard and is traceable to NIST standards. Straightforward operation and rugged design satisfy the needs of both the R&D scientist and the manufacturing engineer.
1 kHz measurement rate, single wavelength, CW and modulated signals
The 828 Optical Wavelength Meter employs a unique Fizeau etalon technology that results in the ability to measure wavelength to an accuracy of ± 1 pm at an unmatched measurement rate of 1 kHz. This enables greater efficiency in the production of WDM components by reducing test times from hours to minutes. What’s more, a time resolution of 1 ms results in the most detailed wavelength characterization of tunable lasers.
10 Hz measurement rate, multi-wavelength, CW and modulated signals
The 438 Series multi-wavelength meter measures the wavelength, power, and OSNR of as many as 1000 discrete optical signals. With key features such as high accuracy, fast measurement rate, straightforward operation, and rugged design, the model 438 provides the most precise, reliable, and efficient WDM wavelength testing available. Wavelength is measured to an accuracy as high as ± 0.3 pm, power is measured to an accuracy of ± 0.5 dB, and OSNR is automatically calculated to greater than 40 dB. A measurement rate of 10 Hz enables a reduction in wavelength testing times for greater manufacturing productivity.

The 428 Series Multi-Wavelength Meter combines proven Michelson interferometer-based technology with fast Fourier transform analysis in order to measure the wavelength, power, and OSNR of as many as 1000 discrete optical signals. With features such as high accuracy, straightforward operation, and rugged design, the model 428 satisfies the needs of both the R&D scientist and the manufacturing engineer.
Single-wavelength, CW signals
The 228 Series Optical Wavelength Meter uses proven interferometer-based technology to measure the wavelength of CW lasers to the highest accuracy available. This performance is maintained over long periods of time with continuous calibration using a built-in wavelength standard. What’s more, features such as short measurement time, straightforward operation, and rugged design satisfy the needs of both the R&D scientist and the manufacturing engineer.
